Company Background
In a wine bar in Rome on a cold night in January 2001, the MacPhee’s made a decision that lead to the launch of MacPhee’s wine cellarage in March 2002. Individual collectors, restaurants, wineries and other industry professionals entrust MacPhee’s with tens of thousands of cases in the climate controlled Offsite Storage facility which has since become the benchmark for wine storage in Melbourne.
MacPhee’s soon branched out into a complete range of wine cellaring solutions, becoming the exclusive importers and distributors for EuroCave Wine Cabinets, cellar conditioners and racking systems in Australia and New Zealand in January 2003.
MacPhee’s were continuously asked to design and build wine cellars for homes, restaurants, and corporate firms, all via word of mouth and so MacPhee’s Custom Designed Cellars was born incorporating insulation, Cellar Conditioners and Wine Racks.
In October 2007, MacPhee’s announced the opening of their unique store, MacPhee’s for the wine enthusiast, featuring a wide range of beautiful Wine Accessories many of which are only available at MacPhee's.
MacPhee's boutique retail wine store opened in November 2008 and offers hand selected local and international wine. "MacPhee's is about creating new wine experiences and helping customers repeat 'magic moments', those unforgettable drinking experiences every wine enthusiast tries to relive. It is about giving our customers old fashioned personal attention and taking the time to understand and remember what they like to drink rather than selling the next bottle", says Craig MacPhee.
Craig MacPhee
Cellaring his first serious bottle of wine at fourteen years of age gives you an insight into Craig's passion for wine. He spent 18 years in the financial services industry, his last role being CEO of Distribution for a major financial services organisation. Craig holds a Master of Business Administration (Executive) from the Australian Graduate School of Management (University of NSW and Sydney University).
Craig just couldn't bring himself to throw that first bottle away. It now lives happily in ‘The Rack’ along with many other treasured empties that clients have added over the years.
Tania MacPhee
Tania MacPhee grew up in the wine business and represents the third generation of her family in the industry. Her parents were distributors for De Bortoli Wines for over 20 years and her grandparents owned and ran wine bars in inner Melbourne in the 1950's. Receiving her first pay packet from a part-time job in a bottle shop during university studies, Tania invested this wisely and bought a bottle of Grange.
Completing both a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) Degree, graduating with distinction, and a Diploma of Financial Planning, Tania worked as a Marketing Strategist for a consultancy firm in Collins Street, Melbourne.
Today, Tania enjoys her Marketing and HR role at MacPhee's and admits it's a constant challenge to find a happy balance between work, running a household, catching up with friends and family and having precious time with her husband Craig and their two young boys.
