Curly Flat Pinot Noir 08 - 750ml

Curly Flat has acquired a bit of a cult following. The availability of their wines via retailers is extremely limited, purely because they are snapped up by their client base as soon as they are released. Macphee’s are fortunate to be one of the few retailers that stock Curly Flat and we are excited to be able to offer our customers the newly released 2008 Curly Flat Pinot Noir. The Curly Flat crew are also excited about this vintage, saying “We consider it our best yet because it has power at moderate alcohol (12.6%) and texture and length”.

The bouquet is seductive, with strong aromatics of red and black fruits such as cherries and plums. Dried flowers, white pepper, chocolate, earth and hints of tobacco support these primary fruit aromas. The palate “speaks of Pinot Noir and Place”, offering savoury fruit, fine tannins with medium weight, backed up with oak and a lingering finish. The complexity and fine acid is a delight, ensuring that this is a perfect food wine with lots of aging potential. Cellar for 8-10 years.

“2008 Curly Flat Pinot Noir is yet another example of how you should ignore colour when assessing pinot noir. It's a light garnet colour, yet it has fragrant raspberry fruit and no lack of structure. Pearce found it "very perfumed, with exotic spices and savoury notes. Lovely vibrant palate - quite tight, with good acidity, line and fine tannins. It's a but of a pup".
